Thierry Blondeau was born in Vincennes in 1961.

He studied music and literature in Paris and Berlin (1st prize in composition at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique and at the Hochschule der Künste).

Resident at the Villa Medici in Rome from 1994 to 1996.

Laureate of the Villa Médicis Hors les Murs in 1998 in Basel.

Composer in residence at the E.N.M.D. in Brest from 1998 to 2000 and at the “Akademie Schloss Solitude” in 2000.

Composer in residence in Annecy from 2000 to 2002, he participates in the setting up of a new place of research and diffusion in Haute-Savoie, the M.I.A. (Musiques Inventives d’Annecy).

In 2002 and 2003, he was a guest composer in Berlin by the D.A.A.D. (German Academic Exchange Office).

2004 With Jean-Luc Hervé and Oliver Schneller, he founded the initiative Biotop(e)

Since 2003 he teaches at the Marc Bloch University in Strasbourg (acoustic and electroacoustic composition).

In 2006, he was invited by the Land of Lower Saxony to the Künstlerhof Schreyahn.

His music can be characterized by an audible construction of acoustic, spatial and instrumental data. Listening to live sound has led him to expand the territory of the instrument he plays to the space in which it sounds.

Thierry Blondeau also creates pieces for musicians of all levels, in order to make musically demanding creations accessible from the beginning.

His work Pêle-mêle has a growing reputation among the younger generation of composers.
