Gualtiero DazziGualtiero Dazzi

Recipient of the Prix de L’Académie des Beaux-Arts de l’Institut de France in 2009, of the Studium de musique contemporaine in 1986 and of the Joven Orquesta Nacional de España in 1992, Gualtiero Dazzi is a cosmopolitan and polyglot musician who nourishes his creative work with a great diversity of artistic and cultural influences.

He does not favour any medium, working equally in the field of instrumental music, vocal music, contemporary electronic music, traditional and improvised music, theater or video art. Dazzi seeks to situate his work in the most open cultural perspective possible.

He is the composer of several stage projects. The creation of his first opera La Rosa de Ariadna, directed by Stéphane Braunschweig, presented at the Musica Festival in 1995 in Strasbourg and repeated in a European tour, was hailed as one of the most important operatic successes of his last years.

In 2004, Gualtiero Dazzi premiered his fourth opera Le Luthier de Venise at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, which has been described as a reconciliation of contemporary opera.

Le jeu de la feuille et du vent, directed by Daniel Kawka in 2009 in Paris at the Festival Présences, then in Turin by Luca Pfaff, was selected for radio broadcast in 30 countries.

Recently Am Saum des Gedankens for voice, double choir and orchestra, has been presented by the Orchestre Colonne at the Eglise Saint-Eustache in Paris.

Tres Cantos, for voice, harp and string quartet, commissioned by the Festival Les heures musicales de l’Abbaye de Bourgueil, performed by Sylvia Vadimova and the ensemble Tm+, was heard at the Berlioz Festival in La Côte Saint-André in August 2012.
