Denis DIONNE was born in 1958 in Mont Joli, Quebec, Canada.

He studied Percussion at the Rimouski Conservatory with Carol Lemieux and obtained his Chamber Music and Solo Percussion Diplomas.

In 1981, he received a scholarship from the Banff Center School of Fine Arts (Alberta).
In 1984, his teacher William Kraft suggested that he travel to Europe to study and work with Jean Batigne at the Strasbourg Conservatory. There he obtained the gold medal and the concert license with special mention and congratulations from the jury.

Since 1985, he has performed in Europe, Asia, Central America, North America and the United States as a percussionist, drummer and timpanist with the Philharmonic Orchestras of Strasbourg, Luxembourg, Metz and Mulhouse.

He is the timpanist of the Moscow Virtuosi under the direction of Yehundi Menuhin and Vladimir Spivakov, he also plays with the Boston Jazz Quartet of Felice Pomeranz, the group Macumba and the Trio Noco Music with Emmanuel Séjourné and Philippe Geiss.

More recently he was the drummer-percussionist for the musical Peter Pan in Quebec City, Canada.

Percussion teacher since 1987 in France, he obtained in 1995 the state diploma of music teacher (percussion) and in 1998 the position of full professor at the Municipal School of Obernai.

In 2007 he was appointed full professor and pedagogical director of the percussion class at the Conservatory of Maizières-Lès-Metz.

From 2009 to 2011 he is a full professor of percussion at the Conservatories of Music and Dramatic Art of Quebec and Saguenay (Chicoutimi) and is part of the Equipment Management Committee for the seven Conservatories of Quebec, Canada.

Back in France in 2012, he returned to his percussion class at the Conservatoire de Maizières-Lès-Metz.
