Christian HamouyChristian HAMOUY was born on August 27, 1955 in Angoulême.
In 1970, he won first prize for piano and solfeggio at the Conservatoire National de Région de Bordeaux, and in 1976, first prize for percussion at the Conservatoire National de Région de Boulogne, in the class of Michel CALS. During this time, he took part in concerts with the Orchestre de Bordeaux-Aquitaine conducted by R. BENZI.
He founded the Jeunes Solistes d’Aquitaine ensemble and the PERCUSSIS percussion group.
Soloist with the PERCUSSIONS DE STRASBOURG from 1983 to 1996, he later became its musical director.

Fascinated by the creation and work of today’s composers, he created the TETRA quartet (2 pianos, 2 percussion), and at the same time performed a duo with accordionist
P. CONTET. His solo performances include collaborations with the MUSICATREIZE instrumental and vocal ensemble, the CHŒUR CONTEMPORAIN D’AIX-EN-PROVENCE, directed by R. HAYRABEDIAN, and the TELEMAQUE instrumental ensemble, directed by R. LAY.

His discography currently comprises 25 titles from very different horizons, for Christian HAMOUY loves all kinds of music.

Attracted to teaching, he obtains the Certificat d’Aptitude and teaches PERCUSTRA pedagogy in France and abroad. For 9 years, he taught alongside F. DUPIN and then G. VAN GUCHT at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon. He leads Masters-Classes in France and abroad, and is a member of national and international juries.

He was professor of percussion at the conservatoire de Nice and Académie de Musique de Monaco.
