Nomenclature :

Percussion 1 : Bass drum, 2 bongos, 1 wood block. Percussion 2: Bass drum, 2 toms, 5 temple blocks, 1 Japanese rin.

This work is in a way the author’s “memory” of percussion in Japan, these large drums called taikothat can be heard during the omatsuri, these famous Japanese folk festivals. In addition to the taiko represented mainly by the bass drums, one can hear the “Japanese bowl” (rin) and the wooden instruments (mokusho and mokugyo), specific instruments of ancestral religions represented by the wood-blocks.

The most energetic moments are punctuated by shouts like the kakegoe.

It is a light, festive, energetic piece that requires total physical commitment from the performers.
