This guide is primarily intended for music teachers who have students with DYS disorders (dyslexia, dyspraxia, dysphasia, etc.) in their classes.<\/p>\n

Designed for use in primary education, it provides teachers with a practical and pragmatic toolkit.<\/p>\n

Sharing the fruits of their extensive teaching experience, the authors suggest useful adaptations and adjustments for better learning of the fundamentals of music theory.<\/p>\n

Each chapter addresses the main obstacles encountered in certain fundamental aspects of music theory learning: writing, reading notes, working on rhythm, sight-reading, singing, listening commentary, theory, and musical dictation.
\nPre-notation systems, the use of color and choice of formats, a multisensory approach, and systematic sequencing of learning are the fundamental and recurring ingredients of all the proposed adaptations.
\nTheir goal is to enable students to circumvent and resolve most of their difficulties.<\/p>\n

The recommendations contained in this guide are not cumulative and will be applied on an individual basis according to each student’s specific difficulties and needs. The more targeted and carefully prepared the adaptations are, the more independence the DYS student will gain. <\/p>\n

While preserving as much of the fundamental learning as possible, teachers will also strive to create reassuring and motivating situations, an attitude that will help to recreate the joy of learning as well as confidence and self-esteem, thereby facilitating the integration and progress of each student.<\/p>\n
