For over thirty years I have taught drums and percussion to a large number of students, and I have always taken care to respect the personality of each one.<\/p>\n

If there is no miracle method, no unique learning process, there are on the other hand essential basics to understand when playing an instrument.<\/p>\n

This book is the result of two years of work with one of my students who had difficulty integrating the conventional reading of music. I developed this method to enable him to play the drums without reading a single note of music in order to overcome his difficulty.
\nThe aim of these exercises is to give a solid basis for assimilating the mechanisms of the language of the drums and to allow the understanding of rhythm in a new form. There is nothing to prevent you from reading scores in their classical form later on, as the perception of rhythms will only be made easier.<\/p>\n

The book is divided into two parts:
\nThe first part uses the binary patterns of rock rhythms, the second part the ternary rhythms of blues and shuffle.
\nThe concept is very simple: one drawing \/ one shot
\nStart slowly and accelerate little by little.<\/p>\n

The secret of the interpretation will be the regularity of the cymbal strokes (or hi-hat), the “drive<\/em>“. Count out loud, settle into the rhythm and get into the groove<\/em>!<\/p>\n
