Sheet music available to order in hard copy or for immediate download.\r\n<h2><img class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-5613\" src=\"https:\/\/dhalmann.fr\/music\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/jean-marie-machado.jpg\" alt=\"Jean-Marie Machado\" width=\"133\" height=\"200\" \/>Jean-Marie Machado<\/h2>\r\nOf Portuguese and Italian origins, <strong>Jean-Marie Machado<\/strong> was born in 1961 in Tangiers, Morocco.\r\n\r\nHe studied classical and contemporary music with famous French concert pianist <strong>Catherine Collard<\/strong> and, at the same time, musical theory (harmony, counterpoint, fugues). Alternating with his classical training, he became increasingly involved in composition and improvisation.\r\n\r\nHe has been recognized in the mid-eighties as one of the most talented French jazzmen thanks to the success of the <em>Trio Machado<\/em>. He recorded several albums for the famous Label Bleu. Also very appreciated as a composer, he has worked with classical and contemporary ensembles and led several original groups such as \"<em>Vibracordes<\/em>\" &gt;&gt; (with guest <strong>Nana Vasconcelos<\/strong>) or \"<em>French Piano Trio<\/em>\" with <strong>Martial Solal<\/strong>. In 2000, Jean-Marie Machado created a group called <em>Lyrisme<\/em> &gt;&gt; with great European jazzmen: acoustic bass player <strong>Riccardo Del Fra<\/strong>, drummer <strong>Jacques Mahieux<\/strong> and alternately in this group, English saxophonist <strong>Andy Sheppard<\/strong>, Sardinian trumpet player <strong>Paolo Fresu<\/strong>, and trombonist <strong>Glenn Ferris<\/strong>. The group played at prestigious festivals in 2001: Orl\u00e9ans, La Villette Jazz Festival, Jazz in Marciac and Jazz \u00e0 Vienne.\r\n\r\nAt the same time as he worked as a composer he led ambitious artistic projects in France, which were, more often than not, a mixture of music, poetry and theatre.\r\n\r\nIn 2003, Jean-Marie Machado formed a <em>European sextet<\/em> dedicated to Andalusian music with musicians such as <strong>Andy Sheppard<\/strong> (sax), <strong>Gary Valente<\/strong> (tb), <strong>Claus St\u00f6tter<\/strong> (tp), <strong>Bart de Nolf<\/strong> (db) and <strong>Jacques Mahieux<\/strong> (drums).\r\n\r\nThe group was supported by 3 AFIJMA* festivals, (Nevers, Le Mans and Grenoble), and it performs regularly in France and also in Liege, London and so on. In March 2005,<em> Andaloucia<\/em> &gt;&gt; is releasing its first CD on the Le Chant du Monde label, sold throughout Europe.\r\n\r\nSince 2003, Jean-Marie Machado has also been performing in duet with the American saxophonist, <strong>David Liebman<\/strong> &gt;&gt; , with a repertoire inspired by the Portuguese fado. In 2006, the outcome of this joint collaboration will be the creation of a work for <strong>David Liebman<\/strong> and a symphony orchestra.\r\n\r\nHe appears regularly in various performances: solo, duets with the saxophonist, <strong>Andy Sheppard<\/strong>, with a repertoire of French melodies from the beginning of the 20th century, with the French saxophonist, <strong>Jean-Marc Padovani<\/strong>, and with the Spanish singer, <strong>Antonio Placer<\/strong>.\r\n\r\n\"Jean-Marie Machado knows how to come and go between the codes of jazz and improvisation and those of contemporary music. With his new quartet, he sets the tone: <em>Lyrisme<\/em> . (...) Machado moves forward with a sense of both writing and surprise.
