Jean-François Lézé was born in 1971.

He trained as a percussionist and pianist at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon with François Dupin, Georges Van Gucht, and Roger Muraro.

In parallel to his activity as an orchestral percussionist playing with the National Orchestra of Lyon, the Orchestra of the Opera of Lyon and the Philharmonic Orchestra of Montpellier, he specializes in chamber music with the Soloists of Moscow and Yuri Bashmet.

Solo timpanist of the Metropolitan Orchestra of Lisbon and professor of the National Superior Academy of Orchestra, he creates the trio Nova Blue where he develops the composition, the piano, the vibraphone jazz and with which he makes numerous concerts in Portugal.

He is currently solo timpanist of the National Orchestra of Porto and performs as a soloist with chamber music groups.
