Claude Debussy (Saint-Germain-en-Laye, 1862 – Paris, 1918) was a French composer who lived between the 19th and 20th centuries. A free and non-conformist musician, Debussy has often been characterized as a musical impressionist, a label he never accepted. His music gives pride of place to color and instrumental timbre.
