“Cinnabar, as a source of longevity but also a highly toxic substance.
Cinnabar, as the color of blood, the color of the Earth’s magma, but also the color of the red ink used in traditional Japanese lacquerware.
Cinnabar, as the energy center of the human body, important in qigong and meditation, but also an alchemical material, and for some, a component of the philosopher’s stone.
All the meanings of this word come together in my piece, blending vital energy, passion, and serenity.”
