Today, Frank Masquelier devotes a large part of his activity to the development of his own artistic projects, sharing his vitality, notably within the Adonis, Furioso and Panama Trios, the Laborintus Ensemble and the Aria de Paris Quintet, ensembles of which he is a founding member. He also performs with the organists Monica Melcova (Slovakia), Pierre Cambourian and Claude Nadeau, and the harpists Hélène Breschand, Delphine Benhamou, Iole Cerri (It), Céline Mata and Marielle Nordmann. He is the artistic director of the Festival “Musiques en Vercors” (Isère) and of the Summer Music Academy of Villard-de-Lans, which he created in 1991.

Born in Paris, he obtained a Gold Medal in Flute and a Prize of Excellence at the Conservatoire National de Région de Rueil-Malmaison. Also awarded a Prix de Perfectionnement at the Conservatoire National de Région de Saint-Maur, he then entered the Conservatoire Royal de Musique de Bruxelles, where he was awarded the Diplôme Supérieur. Finally, he studied with William Bennet at the Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg. He also won the 2nd Prize at the International Chamber Music Competition in Illzach (France), tied for 1st Prize at the International Competition in Martigny (Switzerland) and was a laureate of the Cziffra and Menuhin Foundations. He then participated in numerous concerts with prestigious national and international orchestras under the baton of great conductors such as Sylvain Cambreling, Jean-Marc Cochereau, Gérard Devos, Thierry Fischer, Emmanuel Krivine, Patrick Fournillier, Pascal Rophé, Pierre Roullier …

His eclecticism has led him, as a soloist or with the Ensemble Laborintus, to inspire many composers that he has premiered and recorded. His discography is rich with more than fifteen recordings with his ensembles. He has also recorded for France Musique, Radio Suisse Romande, and RTBF.

In parallel to his activities as a performer, Franck Masquelier also develops activities as an arranger and composer. His catalog already includes more than sixty works for various formations, as well as nearly five hundred arrangements or orchestrations. About seventy scores are now published.

Recognized pedagogue, holder of the State Diploma and the Certificate of Aptitude, he is professor of flute and chamber music at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Communal Agréé de Rungis, as well as at the Académie Internationale de Colombes.

Since January 2018, Franck Masquelier is also President of La Traversière Association Française de la flûte, which publishes a magazine, organizes events including the International Flute Convention.
