Entropie was premiered at the opening concert of the Concours International de
Composition pour la Timbale which took place in Lyon in January 2025, conducted by Muguette Rimey Meille and the timpani played by Adrien Pineau.
The ensemble can also be conducted by the soloist, as much information emanates from the timpani playing.
The tempi are quite free and can be interpreted at the performer’s discretion.
The number and organization of timpani is entirely at the soloist’s discretion.
Cadenzas can be played very freely, and can even be totally different from the proposed musical text.
The performer is free to use other playing modes: hands, handles, glissandos, different playing zones,
as well as other instruments placed on the timpani skins or next to the timpani.
