Description
Taïko Dream – Bruno Giner
Multi-level percussion ensemble piece
Piece for conducted percussion ensemble (minimum 7/8 percussionists). Parts can be doubled or tripled, so as to play as a large ensemble, as long as the balance required by the music is preserved.
This ensemble piece is a sort of cross between the Japanese drum tradition (hence the title) and that of the batucada (hence the bells, for example).
It is also a multi-level ensemble piece.
Nomenclature:
Perc 1: snare drum
Perc 2: bongos
Perc 3: high tom
Perc 4: bass tom
Perc 5: bass drum
Perc 6: cymbals (closed hi-hat or cymbals laid down without resonance)
Perc 7: bells
Perc 8: maracas
The parts (including body percussion) vary according to level of mastery, so that as many students as possible, or even an entire class, can participate:
– Very easy: maracas part
– Easy: bell part
– Moderately difficult: bass drum and cymbal parts (closed hi-hat and/or cymbals on a shelf (non-resonant))
– Quite difficult: bongo parts
– Difficult: snare drum, bass tom and treble tom parts
Score available in hard copy or for download.
