Yoshihisa (in memoriam) – Bruno Giner
Sheet music for marimba solo
“I met Yoshihisa Taïra in November 1996 during the creation of my Images de peaux at a festival where his work for six percussionists Hierophonie V was also performed.
The ” impact ” was intense and reciprocal. Afterwards, we shared several moments of a rare quality. I love his music and he loved mine. Few words of course. A lot of laughing silences punctuated with complicit smiles.
Yoshihisa (in memoriam), for 5-octave marimba, is a tribute to Yoshihisa Taïra, a free imaginary and speculative drift based on some notes of his “big sister” Convergence.
The piece is divided into 6 sections: IntroductionTaïra’s name Taïra’s music Taïra’s tomb Improvisation for Taïra Coda (ritual.
This work is dedicated to its instigator and creator Fabrice Marandola. I started writing it on Friday, March 13, 2009 (four years to the day after Yoshihisa Taïra’s death) and I finished it on June 3, 2009, the day of his birthday (he would have been 72)”. Bruno Giner
