Percussion solo for snare drum, body percussion and voice.

This piece requires a snare drum and is performed standing up (without drumsticks) so that the body percussion can fully convey its theatrical impact. The text, which is humorous and open to multiple interpretations, deconstructs the following sentence: “Décidément je n’aime pas le solfège” (I really don’t like music theory). Ideally, the entire piece should be performed from memory so that the theatricality of the piece is not marred by the presence of a music stand. The intentions of the text should be interpreted according to the various stage directions. The nuances are open to interpretation but contribute to a form of theatricality chosen by the performer; the whole (voice, body percussion, and snare drum) must be properly balanced.
